With an interest in baking at home, 39-year-old Comfort Komape initially joined the college to do the Level 2 diploma in professional bakery.

Since then, Comfort has gained the Level 3 diploma in professional bakery and has now progressed to the Bakery and Patisserie Technology Foundation Degree – and the skills she has gained have given her the confidence to launch her own business!

Comfort said: “The course covers making celebration cakes, artisan bread and pastries, and I’m also learning how to make flower decorations from fondant icing and how to make chocolate from scratch.

“This course is perfect for anyone interested in baking, whether just at home or as a business – the more I learn, the more I progress, and I now want to make money from it!”
