After finishing the Level 3 diploma in automotive paint refinishing in July, 20-year-old Keri-Leigh Price moved straight into employment with major dealership Greenhous, in Telford.

Thanks to a partnership between the college and Greenhous, Keri-Leigh and her fellow students visited the company’s site in Telford and were told about job opportunities available, resulting in all six students being offered positions as smart technicians.

After being in the job for a few months, we asked Keri-Leigh how she’s getting on and this is what she had to say:

“The course at college taught me the basics of how to carry out body repairs and paint refinishing correctly and I developed skills and knowledge that I’ve built on since being at Greenhous.

“When I was offered the job I was over the moon as it was the next step in my career and my future – I’m working as a smart technician carrying our body repairs and doing wheel diamond cutting too.

“The automotive industry is still male dominated, but you can do it if you put your mind to it and other girls will be able to get to where I am too.”
