After completing the part-time Level 2 diploma in beauty therapy at the college last year, 26-year-old Khadija Zaffar has progressed to the pat-time Level 3 qualification.

Khadija said: “I wanted to study something I enjoy and I live spa treatments so this was the idea course for me!

“I already run my own business selling false eyelashes through Instagram and as my followers are my target market this was a natural extension for me.

“We’re learning different types of body massage and facials and after lessons have access to online videos so that we can practice at home, and we also get the chance to give treatments to each other, as well as paying clients in the beauty salon.

“As I’ve gained experience in the salon, my confidence has really improved. Before I came back to college I was shy, but now I’m much happier talking to people and have actually mentored others in my class who have needed some extra support – it’s been really rewarding passing on what I’ve learnt to help others.

“Studying part-time is convenient as I can fit it around my other commitments and coming to college was definitely the right decision for me – I’m hoping to launch my own beauty business by the end of the year and I’m really excited to start this new journey!”
