Forty-one-year-old Kevin Rowe’s careers adviser recommended that he did an electric vehicle and green technologies course based on his past experience and qualifications in conventional motor vehicle repair, and so he signed up for the free IMI Level 2 award in electric vehicle/hybrid awareness.

The course, which runs for five days a week, for three weeks, covers a range of elements relating to high voltage vehicles including electrical principles, health and safety, hazard management and reducing risks, system layouts and components, types of high voltage charging connections, and safe preparation of vehicles when carrying out recovery.

Kevin said:” I am now able to identify components associated with electric and hybrid vehicles and knowledgeable about the hazards and risks associated with them, as well as how to carry out risk assessments for vehicle servicing and in emergency situations, and am now looking to seek employment in the motor trade or associated industry.”
