“There’s glitter everywhere at the moment!” said Kacey Howell when we caught up with her to ask how her second term studying for the Level 3 extended diploma in performing arts has been.

Kacey added: “We’re currently in the middle of rehearsals for Shrek, our end of year show, and I can’t wait to see what it looks like when the set arrives and we start dress rehearsals.

“My confidence in singing had held me back in auditions in the past, but I’ve worked on it with my tutors and I applied for the female lead role of Princess Fiona at Easter – I was over the moon when I was offered the part and feel that my hard work has paid off!

“In addition to rehearsals, we also have to create a project scrapbook which contains our research for the musical and the characters, costume and music – it’s great as it makes the workload enjoyable as we can be as creative as we like and there is a good balance between written and practical work.

“When I’ve finished my qualification I’m looking forward to going to auditions but I’m also going to look for jobs as a dance teacher as I love to mentor others and see them thrive, so teaching would be perfect!

“Becoming more confident during my time at college has been one of the most valuable things I’ve gained as it’s enabled me to grow as a performer – I’ve definitely been on a big journey in a short time and I now have a route I’d like to follow and see where it takes me!”
