Employers keen to upskill their staff to prepare them for a management role can take advantage of two apprenticeship training programmes on offer at City of Wolverhampton College.
The college is offering a Level 3 team leader supervisor apprenticeship to teach the skills needed to manage people and operations in a first-line management role, as well as a Level 5 operations/departmental manager apprenticeship for employees who want to progress from providing day-to-day supervision to managing a whole department or multiple teams.
Training is delivered online by experienced college staff, and apprentices will continue to work for their employer and learn on-the-job by putting the skills they gain into practice in the workplace. Throughout the programme they will be supported by a qualified assessor and will benefit from one-to-one and group training sessions.
Andrew Hinchcliffe, aged 46, a drinks dispense technician at Budweiser Brewing Group UK & I, started the team leader apprenticeship in November 2024 to develop the leadership skills needed to take the next step in his career with the company and has already been promoted to senior technician for the north-west region.
Andrew said: “I have learnt so much on the apprenticeship and have developed both personally and professionally since the start of the programme. Gaining a promotion midway through the training was a real boost and the skills and knowledge I have gained have proved to be really valuable when leading my team.”
The team leader apprenticeship starts on April 27, and the operations manager apprenticeship commences on May 5 – for more details and to discuss apprenticeship training contact the college’s employer engagement team at employerenquiries@wolvcoll.ac.uk / 01902 317541
