Ava Turner is studying Level 3 Engineering at City of Wolverhampton College. Since starting the course, she has gained a wide range of technical knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines and developed the confidence to pursue a global career. Ava said:
“Since starting the course, we’ve covered almost every area of engineering including mechanical science, electrical engineering, and computer‑aided design. We’ve spent a lot of time using industry‑standard software to design components, and I’ve learned how to apply practical principles across different branches of engineering.
“The tutors have been amazing. They don’t just give you the answers, they advise you so you can figure things out for yourself. They’re always there to support you, and you can talk to them about anything. They guide you without doing the work for you, which really helps you learn properly.
“My goal for the future is to become an electrical engineer and eventually work abroad. This course is helping me get there because a Level 3 qualification will give me access to university, where I hope to study a bachelor’s and then a master’s degree in engineering.
“The new facilities have been incredible. All the machinery is brand new and works perfectly, and if I ever struggle with equipment or setup, our workshop tutor is there straight away to help. It’s a brilliant environment to learn in.
“To anyone thinking about coming to the college, I’d definitely recommend it. The tutors are respectful, supportive and always willing to help, and the college feels safe with security on-site. It’s honestly one of the best colleges I’ve been to, and I’m really glad I chose it.”
