After beginning the Level 2 Photography course as a hobby, 51‑year‑old Claire Richards quickly discovered a real passion for the subject. She has since progressed through Level 3 and is now studying the Level 5 HND in Photography at City of Wolverhampton College, where she is enjoying developing her skills even further. Claire said:
“While studying photography at the college, particularly on the HND, I’ve gained knowledge and experience in every aspect of the subject. From understanding the exposure triangle and developing prints in the darkroom, to gaining the technical and professional skills needed to work as a commercial photographer. It has been a comprehensive and inspiring journey.”
“My development since joining the college has been incredible. What began as a part‑time interest has led to me being accepted onto Level 6 at university for a BA (Hons) top‑up year, opening the door to an entirely new potential career path. My aim now is to complete Level 6 and possibly move into teaching. This course has given me the knowledge, experience and confidence to make that ambition achievable.”
“I’ve enjoyed every moment of studying this course. I’ve grown as a photographer, built my confidence, had so much fun, and made great friends along the way.”
“To anyone thinking about coming to the college, I would say: do it. The experience has truly changed my life, and I’m so glad I made the decision to start.”
