Daryl Warklate

Course: Games Design Level 2

At 34, Daryl Warklate has returned to education to study Level 2 Games Design and develop the skills behind the games he’s loved since childhood. Daryl said:

“I chose games design because I grew up playing games and naturally learned parts of game development from my dad. I wanted to take it further and get involved properly, especially now that so many great tools are available to the public.”

“Since starting college, I have learned a lot about using software such as Blender, Unreal Engine 5 and Substance 3D Painter. I’ve also developed better time‑management skills while balancing work and study. The tutors have been very supportive and being able to talk openly with them about what’s going well and what isn’t has been really reassuring.”

“In the future, I hope to build better habits and develop long‑lasting interests in 3D software. The course is already helping by giving structure to my week and keeping me engaged in this new world.”

“To anyone considering college, I’d say: don’t put it off. It’s easy to leave it for another year, but imagine all you could achieve in that year.”
