Eliza Austin

Course: Music Level 3

Eliza Austin, 20, studied Music Technology at City of Wolverhampton College and completed her course in 2024. Since leaving college, she has progressed to the University of Hertfordshire to study Music Composition for Film and Games, building on the skills she developed during her time at college. Eliza said:

“I chose to study Music Technology because of my passion for producing music. I’ve always loved films and video games, and I felt this course would give me the opportunity to explore the industry and develop my skills.

“Since leaving college, I’ve been creating and releasing my own music, collaborating with animation students on soundtracks and sound design projects, and developing my production skills further at university. I’ve also worked with a band called Rilas Edge, supporting live sound and recording projects.

“Studying Music Technology at college prepared me well for university. Being surrounded by like-minded people helped me build confidence and develop teamwork skills, while learning software such as Logic Pro gave me a strong foundation to build on.

“My ambition is to become a composer for video games and films, while also teaching future students and helping them develop their own careers in music.

“My advice to anyone considering Music Technology is to go for it. If you’re creative and enjoy working with technology, it opens up a wide range of opportunities. The course was engaging, supportive and a great place to learn. I recently visited the college’s new campus and was really impressed by the facilities available to students.”
