Grace Campbell

Course: Automotive IMI Level 2

Grace Campbell is studying Level 2 Light Vehicle Repair and Maintenance at City of Wolverhampton College. After starting with an evening course to build her confidence, she has now progressed into full‑time study and is thriving in the workshop environment.

“On the course we’ve learned how to repair and fix cars, identify faults, and do basic diagnostics. Before this, I would never have touched a car, but I’ve gained so much confidence. Starting with the evening course really helped me get my foot in the door, and moving onto the full course has developed my skills even more.

“In the future, I hope to be working in a garage, and one day I’d love to have my own. I’ll be staying at the college next year to study Level 3, which will give me a more advanced understanding of automotive and help me work towards those goals.

“Studying in these new facilities has been brilliant. We’re really fortunate, most colleges don’t have the kind of equipment we do. I’ve had the opportunity to work on electric, hybrid, petrol and diesel vehicles, which gives you a real advantage for the future of the industry.

“To anyone thinking about joining the college, I’d say go for it. There are so many opportunities here, both inside the college and through the connections they have with garages and automotive companies. It’s a great place to start your career.”
