Tori McAvan

Course: Photography Level 3

Tori McAvan is studying Level 3 UAL Photography at City of Wolverhampton College. She chose the course to express her creativity, and has since gained technical skills, confidence, and real‑world experience.

“I chose this course because I wanted to do something creative, and since starting I’ve learned to use a wide range of cameras while pushing myself outside my comfort zone. I’ve also developed new skills such as working in a fast‑paced environment and communicating more confidently. The trips, new places, and work experience in music venues have been highlights, offering opportunities for all interests.

“My plan for the future is to continue doing music photography in venues. This course is helping me get there by helping me build my portfolio and giving me the chance to do work experience at The Robin venue. I feel proud knowing I have the chance to photograph smaller bands and help advertise them, giving them more recognition.

“To anyone thinking about coming to this college, I really recommend it. It’s an experience where you can try new things, meet new people and go new places. It’s something you’ll remember for years to come, and it’s lovely to look back on.”
