Former learner Claire Smith recently returned to the college to speak to current students on the Into Employment Health & Social Care course. Claire said:

“I completed the Into Employment Health & Social Care course a couple of years ago, and since then, I’ve never looked back.

“After finishing the course, I gained employment with Handle With Care Black Country — and from there, everything started to fall into place. I went on to complete my Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care and was awarded both a Scroll of Honour and a Platinum Award for my achievements. I was also named Achiever of the Year with Handle With Care.

“In 2023, I was honoured to receive the West Midlands Care Association’s Best Carer award at the Black Country Excellence in Care Awards.

“Coming back to the college as a guest speaker was great and I was so happy to share my story with current learners. I hope it helped them see that with the right support and determination, you really can go far in this career.”
