Is this course right for me?
If you’re passionate about beauty, this course will equip you with the skills to become a fully qualified beauty therapist, working in salons, spas, or even on cruise ships.
You’ll learn a wide range of treatments, including facials, makeup, eye treatments, waxing, manicures, and pedicures, while gaining real experience in our industry-standard salons. Alongside technical skills, you’ll develop first-class customer service, product promotion, and health and safety knowledge, preparing you for an exciting career or progression to higher-level study.
Enrichment
To enhance your learning, you will also get chance to take part in enrichment weeks during which you will be able to learn new techniques, take part in competitions, and complete additional short courses in areas that would be useful to you in the industry, such as gel polish application, eyebrow enhancement, ear piercing or eyelash extensions.
Work Experience
You will complete 30 hours of work experience in a salon. Please note: you will be expected to arrange the work experience placement yourself.
Costs
- Kit: you will be required to purchase your own beauty kit (approximately £150)*
- Uniform : a college-approved uniform is compulsory (approximately £50)*

Course details
Entry Requirements:
To access this course you are required to:
- Grade 3 or above in GCSE English and maths*
- Successfully completed a Level 1 beauty programme (preferred but not essential)
- Beauty/Salon experience (preferred but not essential)
- Demonstrate good communication skills, show friendliness, respect and professionalism, and be able to work effectively as part of a team
- Undertake an interview with a member of the beauty team. You must bring a school report/reference that includes attendance and punctuality.
*If you are below a grade 4/C in English and maths, you will be required to attend lessons in these subjects alongside your Beauty qualification – this is a mandatory part of the course. If you already hold a grade 4/C or above in English and maths, you will not need to attend maths and English lessons. However, you will be expected to complete directed study work packs during this time to ensure you meet the required study hours – this is also mandatory.

- Diagnose skin types and conditions to prepare for facial treatments
- Perform reception duties
- Provide manicure and pedicure treatments
- Remove hair using waxing techniques
- Promote products and services
- Provide eyelash and brow treatments
- Perform manual and spray tanning treatments
- Provide head massage and facials
- Apply make-up
