It will prepare you for entry-level roles in the beauty industry and open up progression opportunities, such as the Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.

Work Experience
As part of the course, you will be required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of work experience.
Course details
Entry Requirements:
To access this course, you are required to:
- Three or more GCSEs at grade 2 or above including English and maths*
- Be able to demonstrate a keen interest in the Beauty Industry, ideally with experience in a salon
- Undertake an interview with a member of the beauty team. You must bring a school report/reference that includes attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrate good communication skills, show friendliness, respect and professionalism, and be able to work effectively as part of a team
* If you have not yet achieved a grade 4/C in English and maths, you will be required to attend lessons in these subjects alongside your Beauty qualification – this is a mandatory part of the course. If you already hold a grade 4/C (or above) in English and maths, you will not need to attend maths and English lessons. However, you will be expected to complete directed study work packs during this time to ensure you meet the required study hours – this is also mandatory.

- Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector
- Salon Reception Duties
- Presenting a professional image in a salon
- Basic make-up application
- Skincare
- Themed Face Painting
- Provide Basic Manicure
- Provide Nail Art
- Provide Basic Pedicure
- The art of Photogenic Makeup
- Create a hair and beauty image
- Health and Safety
What skills will I gain?
By studying this course you will:
- Develop the skills to be able to perform practical beauty-related services.
- Gain knowledge in anatomy and physiology during theory lessons, relevant to various services.
- Develop customer care and client communication skills to deal with enquiries, retail, consultation, complaints and all forms of client care.
How will I be assessed?
Throughout the course you will be assessed in the following ways:
- Continuous assessment of practical tasks
- Written Assignments based on a pass, merit or distinction mark
- Theory tests to assess your knowledge and understanding
