Employers across the West Midlands who want to train staff to take on supervisory and management roles can take advantage of a range of leadership apprenticeships at City of Wolverhampton College.
The college is offering a new human resources support apprenticeship, which starts on Wednesday, 5 March, as well as four leadership and management apprenticeships — in business, customer service, operational/departmental manager, and team leader supervisor — with flexible start dates throughout the year.
The programmes are suitable for employees in companies of all sizes and sectors and will equip them with the skills and knowledge to lead, manage and mentor other staff and teams effectively.
Apprentices will combine continuing to work for their employer with studying towards a set of occupational standards and, throughout the training, will be supported by college staff who will work closely with the employer to ensure the skills they are learning are what is required by the business.
In addition, to give employees a taste of what is involved in a management role, the college is offering a free 12-week leadership course.
It will run on Wednesdays, 2pm-4pm, from April 5 to June 4 and cover topics including decision making, strategic planning, project management, communication and sustainability.
Daniel Degg, head of business development at the college, said: “Effective management can improve practice and productivity and these programmes are a cost-effective way of upskilling existing employees.”
