For James Bean, signing up to the NIS Gateway to Rail course felt like the natural next step.
“I went through a tough time during the pandemic and it messed up my career pathway, which is part of the reason why I’m here learning about the rail industry. I already have qualifications in electrical installation, so I plan to combine the two and hopefully work on the power lines.”
“My class is great. We’re all really good mates, despite the age gaps and different backgrounds. That plays a big part in the experience because we all work together and help each other when needed. Now, you’d think we’ve all known each other for years! There’s a lot of teamwork involved, especially during the practical sessions. Health and Safety is important, so you need to have good communication and relationships with your fellow co-workers.”
“I really believe that training with NIS has opened up a lot more avenues than I ever knew were available to take within the rail. I’ve developed a clear vision for my future and gained lots of new skills, so I want to thank NIS for giving me that reassurance. The course has shown me how worthwhile it is to invest in yourself and grab opportunities to gain extra qualifications.”
“I can combine my previous electrical experience with my NIS training so that I can be in a positive position to secure a good job within the rail. I am ready for a fresh start!”
