Is this course right for me?

If you have a passion for nails and beauty and want to begin a career in the industry, or you already have a Level 1 beauty qualification and wish to progress onto the next level, then this may be the course for you!

You’ll gain the skills to become a qualified nail technician and develop additional expertise in facials, make-up, tanning, manicures and pedicures. Training in our industry-standard salons, you’ll work with real clients, learn how to deliver excellent customer service, promote products and follow essential health and safety practices.

On completion, you’ll be ready to work in salons, spas, nail bars, on cruise ships or even set up your own business, with the option to progress to higher-level study to advance your career further.

Enrichment

To enhance your learning, you will also get chance to take part in enrichment weeks during which you will be able to learn new techniques, take part in competitions, and complete additional short courses in areas that would be useful to you in the industry, such as hair extensions, ear piercing or eyelash extensions.

Work Experience

Work Experience for 19+ learners is not compulsory but we would still encourage it.

Costs

  • Kit: you will be required to purchase your own nails and beauty kit (approximately £150)*
  • Uniform : a college-approved uniform is compulsory (approximately £50)*

*Financial support may be available to cover some of these costs

Entry Requirements:

To access this course you are required to:

  • Grade 4 or above in GCSE maths and English*
  • Successfully completed a Level 1 beauty programme (preferred but not essential)
  • Beauty/Salon experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Demonstrate good communication skills, show friendliness, respect and professionalism, and be able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Undertake a salon skills session in which you will be required to meet members of the teaching team and demonstrate  filing and polishing nails or carrying out a hand massage

*Adults without the necessary qualifications will be required to sit an online assessment in the relevant subject.
