This short course will introduce you to the basic principles of computer coding giving you a better understanding of what it involves and enabling you to engage more effectively with your child when they bring projects home!

Entry Requirements:

To access the course, you are required to have:

  • Level 2 English – this will be assessed at interview
  • Level 2 Maths – this will be assessed at interview

What will I learn?

During the course you will gain:

  • Understand the characteristics and uses of a software program
  • Design a software program
  • Develop and test a software program
  • Review the finished software program

What skills will I gain?

By studying this course you will be able to:

  • Logic gates
  • Algorithm and logic algorithm flow chart
  • Variables and Data types
  • Looping and key differences in looping
  • Procedures and functions

How will I be assessed?

This is a level 2 course, so there are no exams. Your knowledge and understanding of what you are learning will be assessed throughout the course.

What can I do next?

Completion of the course will enable you to:

  • Progress to another IT course offered by the college
