Whether you’re looking to progress in your career, apply for university, or simply improve your confidence with numbers, a good maths qualification is essential.

Employers often ask for a specific GCSE maths grade — and having it can open doors.

If you already have a maths qualification* but need to improve your grade, this course adds up to what you need.

The course is designed to help you achieve GCSE Grade 4 or higher and can be studied completely online**

  • Join live sessions every Monday, 6–9pm (starting January 2026)
  • Commit to just three hours of independent study per week
  • Access tutorials every six weeks (online or on campus)
  • Get extra support during Easter and half-term breaks in the college ME Hubs

*Grade 3/D in GCSE Maths or Level 2 Functional Skills 

*You will be required to sit your final exam at the City Learning Quarter campus, in Wolverhampton city centre, or the Wellington Road campus, in Bilston.

Entry Requirements:

To access this course you are required to have:

  • GCSE maths at Grade 3/ D or
  • Maths Functional Skills Level 2

You will also be required to complete a maths assessment before the course starts to ensure it’s the right programme for you.

 

What will I learn?

During the course you will study:

  • Calculations, addition, subtraction, division and multiplication
  • Fractions, ratios percentages and decimals
  • Geometry, measurement, and accuracy
  • Algebra
  • Sequences and graphs
  • Probability and statistics

What skills will I gain?

Studying GCSE Maths will enable you to:

  • Develop accurate mathematical skills
  • Apply mathematical techniques in a range of situations
  • Respond to questions with considered and informed answers
  • Develop your problem-solving skills.
  • In the workplace required skills

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed throughout the course and will be required to sit a final exam at the end of the academic year.
