The proposals for the City Learning Quarter campus were supported by an initial £6.2 million investment from the City of Wolverhampton Council and Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership, which enabled the completion of design work, site surveys, ground investigations, site acquisition and clearance.

It will then take approximately six weeks to install IT systems, fit out classrooms, equip learning spaces and transfer relevant equipment and resources from the Paget Road and Wellington Road campuses to the new site.

The new CLQ campus is currently scheduled to open to students after the October half-term break.

You will be notified of the actual opening date nearer the time.

The new CLQ campus is in the centre of Wolverhampton with excellent links to bus, Metro and train services, as well as local cycleways.

There is no on-site parking at CLQ. Options have been explored with car park operations in the city centre for those who choose to continue to travel by car. The most economical option available for staff and students who wish to park for a day within a 5-minute walk to the campus is the Mander Centre car park, see table of fees below:
Daily Rate£3.50 per dayWhen parking before 09:30am
Weekly Rate£15.00 per weekWeekly tickets purchased from the pay machines on foot
Short stay parking is available on St. Georges Parade, WV2 1AY at a rate of £1.50 for 2 hours or £2.50 for 4 hours.
Alternatively, there are other parking options available if you are prepared to walk further to reduce the cost of parking for a day. For example, 12 hours parking is available within the ring road (Church Street, WV2 4BA) at £2.70 per day which is a 10-minute walk from the CLQ.

A limited number of paid disabled parking spaces will be available on Old Hall Street.

The city centre location of the site also makes it very accessible by bike, train, metro and bus, so you may also wish to consider an alternative mode of transport.

When your course transfers to the new CLQ campus you will be expected to be on-site for the start of your lessons as indicated on your timetable.

Depending on your household income and the course you’re studying, you may be entitled to financial support to help with travel and other college costs.

The new campus will be equipped with a range of state-of-the-art facilities including hair and beauty training rooms, mock-up hospital ward, professional kitchen and science laboratories, as well as music editing suites, performing arts theatre, rehearsal and recording studios, and visual arts spaces.

Members of the public will be able to book appointments at the commercial New Era hair and beauty salons, as well as find out about training courses to boost their employment prospects and get support with searching for and applying for jobs in the Careers and Skills Hub.

The new CLQ campus is intended to be ‘safe by design’ and consultation with West Midlands Police took place during the early design stages to ensure proportionate security measures are taken.

All staff and students will be expected to swipe through airport-style speed gates using their ID badge, a system that is already in operation at the Wellington Road campus.

In addition, CCTV and access control systems will also be installed in the new building.

The address of CLQ is as follows:

St Georges Parade, Wolverhampton, WV2 1AZ
