People who are looking for work, want to re-train for a new career, or upskill to boost their promotion prospects, can find out about part-time courses starting at City of Wolverhampton College in the coming weeks at an open evening on Wednesday, 21 January.
The college’s new campus at the City Learning Quarter in the centre of Wolverhampton, and Wellington Road campus, in Bilston, will be open from 4pm to 7pm for people to talk to tutors and enrol on their course of choice.
Part-time programmes include automotive transport maintenance, cake decorating, mental health first aid, and plastering; as well as awards in education and training, and preparing to work in schools.
Also on offer are free short courses to teach the skills needed to work in specific sectors – such as administration, construction groundworks, electric and hybrid vehicles, health and social care, hospitality, retail and West Midlands Metro – and programmes to improve English and maths skills.
People interested in studying full-time can find out about A Levels, T Levels, vocational courses and higher education qualifications starting in September 2026, and those who want to earn while they learn can talk to college staff about apprenticeship training and vacancies with local employers.
Visitors to the event can also have a tour of the college’s industry-standard training facilities, including science labs, digital areas, hair and beauty training salons, and professional broadcast, music, photography and performing arts studios at the City Learning Quarter campus; and the Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre, construction centre, professional bakery, and sports centre at the Wellington Road campus.
