This course is suitable for anybody who wishes to gain counselling skills, and is ideal for anyone who works in a helping capacity in a variety of contexts, such as support workers, teachers, social workers, youth workers and others.
It is also relevant to those who are intending to start training in counselling, either in this college or other institutions of further and higher education.
We accept students who may not have direct work experience but do have experience in a helping capacity, subject to satisfactory interview.
The course is highly valued by employers and the University of Wolverhampton advises students to undertake this course before applying to their postgraduate course in Counselling Psychology.

You will be continually assessed throughout the programme by compiling evidence to include written evidence in the form of written questions, case studies, role plays, reflective accounts and group and individual presentations. The course is externally moderated by NCFE.
The skills you will learn from this course will enable you to progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills, subject to approval from the tutor/curriculum manager.Â
We have an excellent success rate on this course with the majority of our students progressing to the Level 3 qualification. Past students have also used the skills gained on this course in their current workplace, to support them in job interviews or to complement other qualifications they hold.
