If you want a career in the healthcare sector, this new two-year T Level qualification will give you the skills and knowledge needed for a range of occupations, such as healthcare assistant, nursing assistant, care worker, or entry to higher education to commence nursing, midwifery, or other healthcare degrees.

T Levels are an alternative to A-levels or an apprenticeship and are designed with employers to give you the skills that the industry needs and the qualities they look for when taking on new staff.

As part of the programme you will complete an indepth work experience placement of at least 45 days - enabling you to put the skills and knowledge you have gained on the course into practice in the workplace - as well as improve your Englishs and math skills

To access this course you are required to have:

· GCSE English at Grade 4 or above

· GCSE maths at Grade 4 or above

· GCSE science trilogy at Grades 55 or above OR

· GCSE separate sciences at Grade 4 or above

During this course you will study the following core modules:

· Core science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics,

microbiology and immunology

· Understanding the healthcare sector

· Providing person-centred care

· Supporting health and wellbeing

· Further knowledge of both human anatomy and physiology and of diseases and disorders

· Infection prevention and control

 

In addition, you will also be required to study one of the following specialisms:

· supporting the adult nursing team

· supporting the midwifery team

· supporting the mental health team

· supporting the care of children and young people

· supporting therapy teams

· dental nursing

By studying this course you will gain a range of skills to enable you to work in the health and

science sector, including:

· Health, safety and environmental regulations

· Managing information and data

· Principles of good scientific and clinical practice

· Checking and testing information

· Supporting points with evidence

· Self-directed study

· Analysing and synthesising information/materials

· Critical thinking and problem solving

· Working collaboratively

· Reflecting upon learning and identifying improvements

· Presenting information in written and verbal formats

Throughout the course you will be assessed on the following ways:

· Employer-based project

Successful completion of the course will enable you to progress to:

· Employment in the healthcare sector

· Higher education qualification

· Degree in a relevant subject

· Higher apprenticeship

You will be taught by tutors who are specialists in a range of health-related fields, will carry out practical sessions in our well-equipped healthcare-simulated environments and, throughout the course, will have the opportunity to take part in healthcare-related educational visits and field trips.
