Careers in the public services can be incredibly rewarding and this course will give you the skills and level of physical fitness you need to enter public service organisations.  Â
You will learn about the role and work of a range of public services and how they each contribute to public and community safety; as well as gain an understanding of the meaning and relevance of citizenship and diversity.  Â
You will learn important skills that are vital for working in a public service role - including communication, planning and team working, as well as improving your fitness and taking part in outward-bound expeditions    Â
We have excellent links with local and national uniformed service organisations and, as part of your course, you will get the chance to take part in a range of training and residential activities, which in the past has included:   Â
You will be required to attend lessons to improve your English and maths (or use the time for directed study if you already have Grade 4 or above) and complete 30 hours of a work experience placement.
You will also be required to purchase a college-branded uniform costing approximately £70 - order forms will be provided before the start of the course and financial support may be available to help with these costs. Â
Also, if you earn less than £30,000 per year and aged 19 or over, you could study this course for FREE!

As part of the course you will get to visit a range of destinations and organisations which, in the past, have included the National Justice Museum, Houses of Parliament, Bilston Fire Station and Cannock Chase; participate in riot training, driver safety and emergency response scenarios, and hear from guest speakers from a range of public services who will talk about career opportunities and their first-hand experiences to inspire and motivate you to get the most out of your learning and progress to a successful future in your chosen service.Â
